The nanoindenter is suitable for measuring the hardness and reduced modulus of materials with stiffnesses > 0.1 MPa. The system is capable of operating in indentation, lateral wear/scratch, and oscillatory dynamic mechanical analysis modes. Berkovich, 10 um radius conospherical, and 100 um radius conospherical tips are available. The instrument can produce 3 – 11000 uN of force.
